If you guys plan on going wine tasting in NZ, I highly recommend spending a night in Blenheim to do the Marlborough wineries. Very convenient when you get off the ferry. There is also a great restaurant in town called Bacchus. Just stay away from the Kathy Lynskey winery. We met her. And she is a total bee-otch!
I would highly recommend trying the pinot noirs just before you get into Queenstown. If timing is right, stop in Bannockburn (about 5 minutes from Cromwell) and go to Mt. Difficulty. Get a nice (reasonably priced) lunch with phenom views and try the wines - the Pinot Noir there is EXCELLENT!
