Great web site guys. God, I'm majorly nostalgic. Vietnam -- Hoi An, Sapa, Central Highlands( for the elephant races and rice wine festival - it's worth it, despite the gruesome slaying of a buffalo), Dalat(scenery is not THAT spectacular, but nowhere else in the world can you abseil and canyon, and eat, for a whole day for $25). In Dalat, the locals took us out for karaoke - highly entertaining! if you go to Nha Trang, skip the beach scene and 1) motorcycle up to Doc Let Beach and 2) see Monkey Island, skip the other "booze cruise" operations. Oh, and go to LAOS! In Siem Reap, be sure to check out at least 2-3 temples outside the major Angkor complex. When in Hanoi, Tam Coc and Perfume Pagoda - in their own way, as beautiful as Ha Long Bay -- and take advantage of the French influence - a little pricey for Vietnam, but the "colonial" coffee houses are so worth it after a day of sight seeing. Some of my best evenings were spent drinking 25 cent beers while sitting in the sidewalk bars, talking to locals...The Vietnamese really like Americans...just don't say anything positive about Prez Bush!(this is for your own safety!)
