Hey Guys! We actually studied abroad in London last Spring semester so we were very excited to hear you're going there next week. We definitely want to recommend this awesome restaurant/bar/club right outside of Picadilly Circus called Tiger Tiger. We're pretty sure there's like a 10pound cover after 10:00, so definitely go for dinner before then - this place has an awesome atmosphere. Also, make sure you order a Cerbera cocktail, amazing. Aside from Tiger Tiger, there's a great crepe place [by "place" we mean booth/stand] on the same side of the bridge [the bridge over the Thames], as Big Ben/Parliament - get the lemon and powdered sugar crepe, it will change your life [we know how much Joy enjoyed that crepe in France; we love you Joy!]. Also, there's a great restaurant that has a few locations in London called Giraffe, but we particularly loved the one near Spitalfields; the mojitos were great.
I don't know if you guys appreciate Mexican food while abroad, but there's this place called The Texas Embassy that's right "in"/outside of Trafalgar Square - the chicken chimichanga is great; it was our salvation. You can't go to London without going to Notting Hill and eating their fish & chips out of the paper cone, it's pretty good with extra vinegar. There's also great crepes there if you miss the one near Big Ben. If you're looking for good pizza, Pizza Express [many locations in London] is great - the name definitely doesn't sell this place but the food is great. In our opinion, stay away from Wagamamas; their noodles are overpriced and strangely tasting. Also, incase you're desperate for some unknown reason, McDonalds in England is REALLY good & they have way cooler dipping sauces than we have in America.
We're sure you're going to go on it, but the London Eye really is MUST. We agree that the best time to go is at "dusk" because the pictures come out the nicest that way. We also LOVE the Big Bus Tour, it's hop-on/hop-off & lasts 24 hours, it's pretty great for the double decker experience. Also, not sure if you're familiar with the movie "Closer", but we love it & the park they go to in the movie is in London near St. Paul's Cathedral & it's called Postman's Park; it really is beautiful and really cool if you've seen the movie. Also, if you're in London on a Sunday - go to Hyde Park to Speakers Corner, it's great but don't let the speakers know you're American or you'll hear about it until the second you leave the park. AND obviously Harrods is amazing - their gelato bar is really fun, and VERY expensive, but the pictures are cute. Okay, we probably told you everything we know, but we can't wait to see the pictures/videos of you guys in London; you're going to have an amazing time.
