Exploring the Old City of Dubrovnik
Seeing that we're staying in the heart of the old city, we've had over 8 days to explore the little nooks and crannies of the town. This is one of my favorite places ever!
-
Reunion with Mom and Dad
It was fabulous seeing my parents for the first time in 8 months, meeting up with them at their hotel just outside the old city gates.
-
Dinner at Ragussa 2
So much fun catching up with my padres at this lovely dinner at Ragussa 2, just outside of our apartment.
-
Laying Out and Swimming at Hotel Excelsior
This beautiful hotel had a wonderful sun deck to relax and tan on. We even all went for a dip in the cool and choppy waters. It was so much fun!
-
Reunion with Jake and Aimee and Watching the Sunset
What a wonderful way to spend our first night with them, by watching the sunset on the old city.
-
Elaphiti Island Day Trip
We took a boat over to 3 of the Elaphiti Islands. We had a delicious lunch on board of mackeral, and got a chance to hike over to a gorgeous beach on the island of Lopud and lay out.
-
Sunj Beach on Lopud Island
This gorgeous beach was quite a hike from the other side of the island, but well worth it. The sand was so silky smooth, and the water was wonderful. We laid out here for the afternoon, dad swam laps, and we all got a kick out of the nude beack on the other side of the beach.

Jewish Synagogue in The Old City
We did a 1 hour tour of the Jewish Synagogue. The tour guide was not the most interesting. However, we did learn some interesting things about the Jewish community in Dubrovnik. There are only 50 Jews left. At the height, there were only 250. The were many beautiful relics in the museum down below. Recommendation would be not to do the $15/pp tour, but rather just pay the $3 and get into the synagogue on your own.

Walking The Old City Walls
This is an absolute must if you come to Dubrovnik. The 1 mile circumference of walls surrounding the old city yields the most amazing views of the Adriatic Sea and the city. We spent a couple hours strolling up top, taking in all the views on this gorgeous sunny day.
-
Dubrovnik Bridge
This lookout was our first stop on the day trip with Elmis. This bridge was only completed 5 years ago, after over 30 years of planning and building. It is quite an artistic design, and we all enjoyed marveling at it. It lies above the Lapad Penninsula.
-
The Trsteno Arboretum
We just stopped briefly at the entrance of this arboretum to view this tree that is supposedly the largest of it's kind in Europe. It truly was a grand thing to take in.
-
The City of Ston Walls
We climbed up part of the city walls to take in a view of the salt flats below. It was a very steep climb, but worth it for the view up top. Ston was a military fort of the Ragusan Republic whose defensive walls are a notable feat of medieval architecture: there is an 890 meters long town wall and 5 km Great Wall outside the town.

Visit to Mussel/Oyster Farm in the Peljisac Wine Region
This was a wonderful visit to a local mom and pop mussel/oyster farm. We got to meet the owner and ask him questions about the farm. Best of all, we indulged in some delicious food. It was my mom's first time eating an oyster here, and Jason claims it was the best oyster he's ever had.
