Catalonia Las Cortes - 08.16.07 - 08.21.07 - Madrid
This hotel was rated #1 on tripadvisor out of 380 hotels. We assumed it must be outrageously expensive, but when I called them on the phone it was only 95 euros/night including breakfast. Although when we arrived to the entrance of the hotel we were unimpressed, our room itself is gorgeous. This hotel is a converted palace, so maintains a lot of the original classic touches. We definitely got hooked up b/c of our honeymoon with a superior room, instead of a standard. On top of it all, this is the most central location, a 1 minute walk from a plaza filled with restaurants and 5 minute walk to the Plaza del Prado. We would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

Petit Palace Santa Cruz - 08.21.07 - 08.24.07 - Seville
Located in the heart of Barrio Santa Cruz, this was a perfect location to be able to access the old city including the cathedral. Our room itself was small, but nicely decorated with modern furnishings. However, the shower only had half a door, which allowed for the water to get all over the place. Overall sense, is that the hotel cut corners on the renovation of this place, trying to use "posh" looking (but cheap) furniture to cover it up. Great thing though was the free wifi throughout the hotel. I would most likely stay here again. Good, but not great place.

Hotel Alhamar - 08.24.07 - 08.27.07 - Granada
For the reasonable cost of 60 Euros a night, this place was a steal. It's a nice hotel, looks to be recently refurbished. The room was basic and comfortable with a nice flat screen television. Best of all, it had a nice large bed, coming from a room in Seville where we had a tiny bed. Certainly nothing extroardinary about this place, but for the price it's worth a stay. Also, it's only a mere 10 minute walk to the central cathedral, and about a half hour walk from Alhambra.

Hotel Villa Emilia - 08.27.07 - 08.31.07 - Barcelona
Wonderful, brand new hotel, located a little out of the center of Las Ramblas. Very trendy design in the lobby, clean and modern furniture in the rooms. The best part is the amazing roof deck with comfy couches and chairs to relax on or grab a drink. The worst part is the in and out internet connection, which is very frustrating. We would most definitely stay here again.
