Lovely setting for our "spa meal" by the pool, after 4 different treatments
They served up a beautiful and fresh soup, fish dish, rice, vegetables, and an apple crepe to end it. We certainly were ready for this meal since the 4 hours of massage/facial and mani/pedis took a lot out of us :)

Nam Kha Restaurant - District 1, Saigon
This was a gorgeous restaurant, as you can see the pool in the middle of this picture. This was the appetizer sampler platter of the most delicious and unique spring rolls, meat wraps, and shrimp thingys - so fresh and tasty! This was considered a very nice restaurant (aka a little pricey for Vietnam standards).

$4 Lunch at Cho Ben Thanh Market
I think I tasted a new favorite dish of mine - not sure what it's called in Vietnamese, but it's rice noodles, with shrimp covered in sugar cane. Okay, this was majorly yummy!
-
Opera Restaurant in the Park Hyatt - Saigon
The food here was DELICIOUS! Very unqiue Italian dishes included a veal starter with parmessian and arugula on top. The service was superb, and the bottle of wine we drank was excellent.

Poolside Bar at the Renassaince Riverside Hotel - Saigon, Vietnam
Couldn't beat the view on the 21st floor looking out onto the city! The food was really good also. We had a lovely tuna melt sandwhich, and delicious, fresh shrimp, rice paper roll.

Elephant Ear fish in the Mekong, wrapped in rice paper
This specialty of the Mekong was quite tasty, although not the most appealing thing to look at. Guess how the fish got the name elephant ear!?!!?

Seafood bar b q on the beach at Victoria Resort
This was all about the freshness of the seafood - you picked out what you wanted, and they grilled it up right in front of you. As you can see lobster, crab, prawns, and squarefish were among the delicacies.

Breakfast at Victoria Resort looking out onto the ocean
An amazing breakfast buffet was included in our stay - definitely went a little over-board on that one!

Guava - Nha Trang, Vietnam
Nice relaxed restaurant/bar to grab a bite after our long morning of diving. We were definitely disappointed when our fresh seafood spring rolls turned out to be fried, instead of in rice paper.

Sailing Club, Nha trang, Vietnam
Located right off the main road along the beach, this place was a total score. This is a popular place known for it's amazing array of dishes from Italian, to Indian, and authentic Vietnamese. This was one of our best meals in Vietnam, beginning with a goat cheese salad, then an ahi tar tar, followed by a flavorful chicken corma with naan. It was sooooo delicious, and the setting was amazing!

Senses at Life Resort - Hoi An
We had read some fabulous reviews about this place, and boy were we disappointed. This definitely struck us as the sort of place that was just trying way too hard to be fine dining. The crab on pancake was totally saturated with s sauce, the shrimp soup was green and tasted just awful, and the coconut and lime marinated groupa was overcooked. And to top it off, they had the chutzpah to ask at the end of the meal to fill out a "satisfaction survey" - I think NOT!

Red Bridge Cooking School Chef
The next several pictures are dishes that Jason and I prepared, and of course you can be the judge who out-performed who!

Memory Cafe - Hoi An
We had one of the best Vietnamese meals here, including the famous "white rose" dish that Hoi An is known for. We feasted on noodles and chicken, shrimp soup, steamed spring rolls, and the "white rose". All of this for about $7 dollars.
-
The Hoi An famous "white rose" at Memory Cafe
A type of shrimp dumpling made from translucent white dough bunched up to look like a rose.
-
Brother's Cafe - Hoi An
Advertised as a 5 star "fine dining" establishment, and with a pre fix dinner of $20/pp we had very high expectations of this place. The meal was tasty, but certainly not worth anywhere near the price they charged. I definitely think this place is way over rated and over-priced. The best part about the restaurant is the outdoor garden seating overlooking the river, which was lovely to sit at with Marie and Damon.

Grilled whole mackeral on Cua Dai Beach, Hoi An
This was meaty and delicious, considering I'm not usually the biggest fan of mackeral.
-
Banana Pancake served to us on Cua Dai Beach
The BEST banana pancake we've ever eaten. Kind of crepe like!
-
Emperor Restaurant - Hanoi
This is a must eat institution in Hanoi, serving up amazing Vietnamese cuisine. Many of the dishes are Hue style. We ate the most amazing soft shell crab - another best thing we've ever eaten
-
The sole coffee shop on Hoan Kiem Lake
This served up the most amazing Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk in it. This place got us hooked on the stuff!!!
-
Bobby Chinn - Hanoi
We almost came back here for dinner, since lunch was so delicious. There's a really cool vibe to this place, located across from the Hoan Kiem Lake. They have hookahs set up in the back area, which looks like a fun late night hang out!

My Way Restaurant - Hanoi
Located right behind the Metropole Sofitel, this place was a perfect spot to spend an evening. With dozens of beers to choose from, we were able to indulge in our favorite Blue Label Chimay. The food was quite superb.
