Bijan Restaurant - Kuala Lumpur
This was the recommendation from the Mandarin of the best Malay restaurant in the city. Either our hotel was totally off, or we just don't like Malay food. The chicken curry dish was on the bone, and overcooked. The green beans had way to much garlic in them, and the shrimp in the dish I actually had to spit out since it was undercooked. Nice ambience, but that didn't come close to making up for the terrible food.

Little Penage Kafe -- in the KLCC Building - Kuala Lumper
Okay, I think I don't like Malay food. The ingredients seem to be overpowered with intense spices and take away from the natural flavor of the foods. Don't get me wrong, I love spice, but it seems like all of the food, even the side vegetable dishes are soaking in spicy sauce to the point of not being able to taste the natural ingredients at all. Many things are friend in Malay food as well, which we're not into.

Chef Bauer from Frangipani Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur
Chef Bauer, in his strong French accent, really new how to work the room -- we were very impressed by his personable quality, checking in with us throughout the meal. He also was nice enough to give us a delcious sardine dish on the house, when they were out of the asparagus we ordered. Not only that, but when we couldn't decide on a dessert, he made a sampler plate for us, including a starter of marzipan covered in chocolate sauce. This was our best meal of the trip so far. Beautiful restaurant, superb service, and absolutely unique and delicious food!

Secret Recipes - Kuala Lumpur
Casual lunch place where they served quite a range of foods. I got a Greek salad, while Jason got Singapore lakse (spicy coconut milk based soup with noodles and varied seafood).

Japanese Restaurnt in the KLCC Mall
We really miss our bento box meals from our local Japantown jaunts -- this place helped quench that craving!

Limau Limau - Jonker Street in Melaca
Wonderful fresh fruit and ice blended drinks. Mango and banana for me and strawberry and banana for Jason was the perfect thing to cool us down that hot evening. The food was wonderful as well, nice and fresh chicken salad with lychee in it, and a tuna melt that hit the spot. The sort of place every beighborhood should have -- had such a local joint sort of feel.

Nando's -- Melaka mega-mall restaurant
This was the first restaurant we ate in while visiting Auckland, so thought we'd give it a try here. Nice and easy chicken meal was perfect, although definitely nothing special. This is like a Chili's back home.
