Petronas Towers that house the KLCC Mall
We spent some time each day walking through the 6 story mall located at the base of the Petronas Towers. This mall was the most comprehensive, greatest mall we've been to yet!
-
Walking down Petraling Street in Chinatown
There was no doubt we felt like we were back in China. All of our negative feelings from being in that country came rushing up in both of us while here, since the hawkers were so pushy and relentless in trying to get our attention.

Islamic Arts Museum featuring display of "Spice Jouneys"
It's not often that I can convince Jason to go into a museum. However the promise of air conditioning on this intensely hot day, after an hour of walking around in the hot sun sold him on it. It seems like he was actually interested in all of it!
-
Walking around the sprawling park
This was a lush and beautiful area to explore.
-
KL Tower Observation Deck
It was an awesome view from up here, being the highest place in the city. We loved the audio tour they provided, which offered some interesting information about the city.
-
Walking around Jonker Street and enjoying the weekend festivities
We were quite lucky to be in Melaca on a weekend, since this Jonker street shopping is only open then. There were tons of shopping and food possibilites here, and we even bought a couple things to send home. Catching a line dancing class, a Mandarin debate, and all the excitement in the air was quite fun!
-
Walking around Red Square and All around Melaka
This little port town is pretty small, and we were able to cover quite a large portion of it on foot, walking for several hours from our hotel, to the Red Square, up the main street, to the local market, swinging around to Jonker street and over to the Melaka Mall. A couple hours in the intense sun was more then enough for us!
-
Navigating the open gutter/sewer system in this town was a task of it's own
We did A LOT of walking around the town of Melaka, probably close to 10 miles this one day all the way back from the Portuguese Village to Jonker Street. Lets just say we were being as careful as possible not to fall into these major walking hazards all over the city. AND, when there is not sidewalk 99% of the time, it's now night time, and you're trying to avoid the on-coming traffic, you come pretty close to those things.

Our first trishaw expeirence only last 60 seconds. . .
since this adorable old-timer passed us off to El Gordo, probbaly b/c he new he couldn't make it all the way to the Portuguese Village a good couple miles away.
-
Crab, beer, and sunset at the Portuguese Village
When we first arrived to this pretty awkward looking carpark filled with restaurants, we weren't too sure about the whole "Portuguese Village" vibe. We were however made believers after sampling some of the most delicious seafood we've ever eaten, and realizing the locals were quite wonderful and sweet.

Jason finding his calling as a trishaw driver
This entrepreneurial trishaw driver convinced Jason at the end of a long, drunken night to give it a try while he hopped in as the passenger -- he was probably thinking "sucker" the whole time!
